Gartner® Research on Emerging Tech: Adoption Trends in Preemptive Cyber Defense

PacketViper, an innovator in converged OT/ICS and IT cybersecurity, is pleased to announce that PacketViper has been recognized/named as a Sample Vendor in the Gartner® report Emerging Tech: Adoption Trends in Preemptive Cyber Defense.

According to Gartner, "Preemptive Cyber Defense leverages proactive mechanisms of defense, predictive intelligence or attack anticipation instead of focusing on detection and response. PCD may invoke periodic or randomized changes, polymorphism, or encryption of a target asset, build preemptive defensive posture changes, block lists and take other intelligence-led proactive measures. Automated moving target defense (AMTD) may be used, offering techniques that continually change system configurations, modify network architectures such as network paths and IP addresses, or morph application behavior. These automated changes make it harder for attackers to identify and exploit vulnerabilities, map a static target architecture, or establish persistence in the environment.”1

Each industry values preemptive cyber defense differently. PacketViper understands this and offers innovative value that can address all of these important business differentiators and primary value propositions for every critical industry sector. That’s why the premise of PacketViper technology is built upon Preemptive Cyber Defense capabilities in our entire suite of products for OT and IT environments.
PacketViper's Preemptive Cyber Defense Technology works differently from other moving target defense tools and technology approaches. The technology places an emphasis on deception enabled AMTD techniques designed to make cyber-attacks difficult by misleading and hindering threats early and often throughout the attack cycle. The solution not only identifies malicious activity very early in the cyber kill-chain, but also restricts a would-be attacker's ability to gain an understanding of the underlying assets in any layer of the network, identify vulnerabilities, probe for misconfigurations, and run remote exploit attempts. With this practical application of AMTD technology, threats are automatically stopped from exfiltrating data or establishing command and control communications to external hosts.
