Our Story

Built by a practitioner.
Because practitioners got tired
of watching attackers win.

PacketViper was built by someone who spent 30 years in the field – not in a lab, not in a boardroom, but running networks, architecting security systems, and watching the same failures happen in the same ways.

The tools weren’t keeping up. So we built what should have existed.

Defenders react. Attackers act. That gap doesn’t close with better detection.

Francesco Trama – Army veteran, helicopter pilot, combat experience, Atari 800XL to data center security architect – spent three decades watching defenders lose for the same reason. The tools were reactive.

1

Wait for the alert

Every major security architecture decision came back to the same failure mode: somebody had to be watching, and watching meant being behind.

2

Chase the alert

Behind the attacker. Behind the threat. Behind the incident. The industry built faster, louder, more expensive alert tools. None of them solved the actual problem.

3

Write the post-incident report

Repeat. The gap doesn’t close with better detection. It closes with preemption.

The Patent Question

PacketViper started with a single question – “Why can I block an entire country with a click, but I can’t target a specific business within that country?” That question became the foundation for context-aware enforcement. It grew from there.

Preemptive Security Platform

Not a deception company. Not a Deceptive Responders vendor. Not a SIEM. Not a firewall replacement. Something that didn’t exist before – a single platform that understands who, what, where, when, and why before it decides what to do.

The team that built it can answer your actual questions.

As Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Francesco is responsible for the overall operating performance while building technical and business credibility externally as a market-facing thought leader. Frank is co-inventor of a patent issued for selectively regulating network traffic. Prior to PacketViper, he held the Director of Information Security and Technology position at Liberty USA, and served as Partner and Director of Libcom Internet Services. Francesco is a decorated veteran who served twelve years in the US Army Assault Helicopter Battalion.

“I do not shy away from going big. Most security tools are built around the wrong assumption – that defenders will react faster than attackers. They won’t. The SIEM screams. The analyst pivots. The attacker is already moving. We built PacketViper around the attempt, not the block. The attempt is the signal. That’s what everyone else is missing.”

What 30 years of field experience builds.

Practitioner Knowledge Built In

30+ years of field knowledge baked directly into product design decisions. No academic framing, no sales layer – just tools that work the way security actually works.

Patent-Backed AMTD

In production for 10+ years before the Gartner category existed. The patent predates the market. The deployments predate the analyst coverage.

Preemptive Inline Enforcement

Not detection, not alerting, not orchestration-dependent action. Enforcement fires inline at the moment of first contact – action and notification arrive together.

Single-Box Architecture

What enterprise firewall, enterprise firewall, and Cisco sell as stacks – delivered as one platform. No integration project. No gaps between tools.

OT-First Thinking

Built for environments where you can’t break what you’re protecting. No agents, no active scanning, fail-safe operation – reflecting the real constraints of OT, not IT adaptations.

AI-Assisted, Human-Decided

Two years deep into AI – not to automate human decisions, but to give humans the right context at the right time so their decisions are confident and fast.

Results from production. Not a lab.

Mandiant
Beat Mandiant red teams in production environments – not lab demonstrations
Enterprise

Years of AMTD in production – the patent predates the market category

The platform was designed for people who’ve been in your chair.

For Security Teams

Built by someone who’s been in your seat

No academic framing, no sales layer – just tools that work the way security actually works.

For OT Operators

OT-first, not IT-adapted

We started with OT environments in mind. The architecture – no agents, no active scanning, fail-safe operation – reflects the constraints of your world.

For Leadership

Makes your team faster

We’re not trying to replace your team. We’re the platform that makes your team faster, more effective, and less dependent on endless manual correlation.

Who founded PacketViper?

PacketViper was founded by Francesco Trama, a cybersecurity professional with over 30 years of network engineering and security experience. The company was built on Francesco's insight that static network perimeters give attackers too much time to study and exploit fixed configurations - and that the solution was to make those configurations continuously unpredictable.

When was PacketViper founded and what problem does it solve?

PacketViper was founded to address a fundamental architectural weakness in traditional cybersecurity: static defenses give sophisticated attackers the luxury of time to study and exploit fixed configurations. By making the network surface continuously dynamic through AMTD while simultaneously enforcing inline at wire speed, PacketViper removes the reconnaissance advantage that attackers depend on.

What makes PacketViper different from other cybersecurity platforms?

PacketViper is the only platform that combines patented network-layer Automated Moving Target Defense, inline enforcement at wire speed, OT-native protocol awareness (Modbus, DNP3, BACnet, S7COMM), active deception with instant enterprise-wide containment, and asset trust relationship modeling - in a single agentless platform that requires no SOAR dependencies.
